Different Covid Vaccines
Coronavirus cause illnesses ranging from Cough, fever to more severe diseases related to the respiratory system.
As of April 2021, there are over 250 vaccine candidates for COVID-19 being developed. Few of them are in human trial and the rest of them are in phase 1/2.
Let's get a quick look at some most used Covid vaccines :
1. Covaxin (BBV152)
Covaxin is developed by Bharat Biotech in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). Covaxin was approved for human clinical trials in July 2020.
It is included along with immune-potentiators.
Covaxin demonstrated 81% interim efficacy in preventing COVID-19 in those without prior infection after the second dose.
Side effects : headache, fatigue, fever, body ache, abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, dizziness-giddiness, tremor, sweating, cold, cough and injection site swelling
2. Covishield
This vaccine is manufactured by SERUM INSTITUTE OF INDIA PVT. LTD. It is approved for restricted use in an emergency situation by WHO. And it got approval from more than 30 countries.

3. Pfizer-BioNTech (BNT162b2)
This vaccine was issued in December 2020 by U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The vaccine is manufactured by Pfizer Inc.
This vaccine is approved by 85 countries in the world.
The most commonly reported side effects, which typically lasted several days, were pain at the injection site, tiredness, headache, muscle pain, chills, joint pain, and fever.

4. Oxford/AstraZeneca (AZD1222)
This vaccine has been listed for emergency use by World Health Organisation.
The vaccine is developed by Oxford University and AstraZeneca and It is marketed under the brand name Covishield and Vaxzevria.
According to data from the manufacturer, it is 63% effective in the prevention of the COVID-19 virus.
The vaccine has been approved by more than 90 countries.

5. Sputnik V (Gamaleya)
The vaccine is manufactured by Gamaleya Research Institute in Russia.
The Institute reported that Sputnik V showed 97.6% efficacy.

6. Moderna (mRNA-1273)
(2 shots, one month (28 days) apart)
The vaccine is manufactured by ModernaTX, Inc. It is an mRNA type of vaccine.
Moderna shows 94.1% effectiveness in clinical trials.
46 countries approved the Moderna vaccine.

7. Janssen/Johnson & Johnson (Ad26.COV2.S)
The vaccine is recommended for people aged 18 years or above.
It is manufactured by Janssen Pharmaceuticals Companies of Johnson & Johnson.
Currently, 40 countries approved this vaccine for the prevention of Coronavirus.
The vaccine was 66.3% effective in clinical trials.
8. Sinopharm vaccine (Inactivated)
Sinopharm is developing this vaccine which is a Chinese state-owned company. The vaccine showed 79% efficacy.
The vaccine is approved by Chine and United Arab Emirates.
9. CoronaVac vaccine (Sinovac)
Sinovac is an inactivated virus covid-19 vaccine. The vaccine is developed by Sinovac Biotech Ltd.
It is 67% effective against symptoms.
The vaccine is being used by several countries in Asia, America, and Europe. It is being produced separately in Indonesia, Egypt, and other small countries.
10. Novavax
The vaccine is developed by Novawax, Inc. and it showed 89.3% effectiveness in its phase III clinical trial in United Kindom.
